Why Travel Here

Kenya, often regarded as the original safari destination, owes much of its reputation to the marvelous Masai Mara. Sharing its borders with Tanzania’s Serengeti, the Mara serves as both a destination and a starting point for the Great Wildebeest Migration, depending on the season.

The Masai Mara is the epitome of safari country, instantly recognizable to anyone who has watched a wildlife documentary. Its rolling plains, dotted with isolated, flat-topped acacia trees, are the stuff of safari dreams. These plains support high densities of resident wildlife, including black rhino and all major predators.

The annual arrival of the wildebeest herds makes the Mara unrivaled. The crossings at the Mara River provide thrilling moments, while the rhythm of the seasons and wildlife adds a steady pulse to the experience.

The Mara has long inspired photographers and wildlife filmmakers, yet it still holds many secrets. Whether among the resident animals or in the ceaseless roaming patterns of the wildebeest, much remains to be discovered on Masai Mara safaris. The Mara may seem timeless, but there’s no time to lose.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya, where your Wildlife Safari representative will assist you through immigration and customs. Your guest manager will escort you by private vehicle to the elegant Tamarind Hotel Nairobi. Enjoy a ‘welcome’ safari briefing, with the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Journey to Masai Mara

Travel through the streets of Nairobi to the domestic airport for your light aircraft flight into the Masai Mara. You’ll be welcomed by Mara Simba Camp and taken on a short game viewing transfer to the lodge, set on a private stretch of The Mara River. Settle in before your first game drive, followed by dinner around a crackling fire in the boma.

Day 3: Game Viewing in Masai Mara

Wake at dawn and head off in your 4×4 game viewing vehicle for some exceptional game viewing in the Masai Mara. Witness the sunrise over the savannah grasslands, silhouetting giraffes, elephants, wildebeests, and more on the horizon. Return to camp for lunch and a leisurely afternoon before your next safari adventure. Enjoy dinner and a campfire as the sounds of the night surround you.

Day 4: Another Day in the Mara

With the rising sun on the horizon, venture out for your first exciting game drive of the day. The bush holds endless opportunities - a predator stalking its prey, a fish eagle calling over the river, or a calf being born. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge, cool off in the swimming pool, then head out on your late afternoon game spotting expedition. Enjoy a sundowner as the sun sets over the African bush, followed by dinner and a campfire.

Day 5: Departure

After a final morning game drive and breakfast back at camp, depart to the airstrip for your flight to Wilson Domestic Airport. A Wildlife Safari representative will meet you and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward journey.
